Corriverton,
located on the western bank and at the mouth of the Corentyne
River, formerly comprised three village districts. The town
was established only in 1970. It has an area of 126 km²
and a population of about 17,000. There is a small port
to accommodate passengers to the neighbouring state of Suriname
Corriverton,consists
of two towns, Springlands
and Skeldon, which have been
amalgamated.
It contains a church, and zebus are allowed to wonder freely
around the town as in India. The town is also used for smuggling.
