Guyana Petroleum Exploration

Guyana is currently one of prime target for petroleum exploration. Guyana's offshore Guyana Basin and to a lesser extent it's inland Takatu Basin are currently attracting a great deal of interest from petroleum exploration companies.

Petroleum Exploration history of Guyana
Since the 1940's, companies such as Shell, Total and Mobil have done a great deal of seismic work and in the process drilled a number of wells. This data is now available for new exploration companies to use and is the prime reason why exploring in Guyana is now such an exciting prospect.

Current companies involved in exploration work in Guyana
At present there are four companies doing exploration work in Guyana, Exxon-Mobil Repsol, Century Guyana Ltd. and CGX. There are still large areas in the Offshore basin and the Takatu Basin are available for investment.
